Bohol: Dinner By the Beach with Friends

Bohol Beach Club

My friends and I had constantly traveled since college graduation, but the pandemic put a halt to this. Our last trip together was Bali in 2018. It was memorable because we went mountain biking. Medyo buwis buhay. We biked on highways and roads in between rice paddies. One wrong turn and crash! Anyway, for our first post-(hopefully, post-)pandemic trip, we decided to go local, primarily because the airfare was on sale. Off we go to behold… Bohol, Philippines!

Behold… Bohol!

Bohol Resort Searching

When looking for board and lodging, in this case, a resort, here were our criteria: First, it should not be too crowded, for obvious reasons. Second, it should be by the beach. Nakakapagod na maglakad! Third, we didn’t have to take an elevator to go to our rooms. Kasi di ba ang messy pag sandy ka tapos sasakay ka ng elevator, ang dumi. Plus, elevators give off a very work non-vacation vibe. Ayaw natin n’yan! Fourth, of course, the place had to look good in pictures (pero di na ako masyado ano with this). Lastly, the place had to be cheap. HAHA. Dami arte, wala rin palang budget. Siyempre we value our money and every centavo should be spent optimally.

Because I have a friend that’s also addicted to all kinds of promos, we found the resort that fit our criteria perfectly. Thank you to Klook and credit card promo, which we will not disclose kasi di naman to bayad (#notsponsored). Thanks, also, to my other credit card, na-convert pa namin to installment with zero interest. We booked a room for four in Amorita Resort. The problem: lima kami. Tsk. This really made me uneasy the whole time we were planning. I didn’t want to pay for an extra person and risk not being comfortable in the room. Then I had an idea.

Oops. Nagpicture lang kami sa Mist kasi sarado pa in the morning.

Actually, it was my mom’s idea. Sabi niya, ba’t di mo na lang isama mga kapatid mo? Ayun, problem solved. I booked another room. This time from Agoda (big mistake kasi akala ko wala na ‘yung Klook promo). Anyway, the room arrangement’s all good and we also have my siblings to take our photos, parang sa Sweet Escape. HAHA!

Pictorial muna bago mag check-in.

Itinerary for Titos and Titas

Airfare, check! Accommodation, check! So what’s our itinerary? Nung una, we considered renting a yacht para ma-try lang na magputi tapos picture-picture sa yate. However, the yacht tour was already fully booked when we got to a decision. Following this idea, we looked for an activity that’s equally luxurious and Instagram-able. So ayun, ang title ng post na ito: dinner by the beach.

After carefully canvassing each resort in Alona beach, we found the one that perfectly fit to our standards, most importantly our budget. We reserved a dinner by the beach in Bohol Beach Club. We worked with an event coordinator who was very accommodating and understanding of our requests. Nakakatawa lang na tinanong niya kung ano ang event. For only Php4,000, may instant gender-reveal party ka na by the beach pa! Food was not included but our party had 8 pax, so puwede na. Optimal! Of course, I asked all 8 pax to wear proper dinner-by-the-beach attires.

The titos and titas have arrived

Platonic Dinner by the Beach

We took a van to Bohol Beach Club. Medyo nostalgic, my first Bohol trip was in Bohol Beach Club back in…. I can’t remember. Sorreh. I just remember na sobrang happy namin sa unli-bacon breakfast. HAHA! Tinatanaw namin ‘yung dinner set-up from the entrance. From afar, it was already recognizable. Sure na kami na ‘yun nga ‘yun. As we took steps nearing our “event venue,” unti-unti kaming nakaramdam ng hiya. The dinner table was literally by the beach and pinagtitinginan siya ng mga tao. Masyado ‘ata papansin. HAHA!

But this was what I we wanted, and they delivered. Thanks, Bohol Beach Club! The food was good. We ordered the Grilled Mixed and Fisherman’s Basket platters plus two more viands. We also had cocktails and sang along with the acoustic band na very pang millennial talaga ang playlist. Doon ko lang ulit narinig ang “Stickwitu” by The Pussycat Dolls. It’s such a bop! Charot. Siyempre kinanta din ang “Kahit Kailan” by South Border. Bravo kay kuya dahil nakanta niya ang bridge. We arrived at 5PM and left at 9PM. Super sulit!

Papansin? Or di naman? Tamang papansin lang?

Overall, masaya ang experience sa dinner by the beach. If kaya n’yo pa mag-Indian sit nang matagal, I highly recommend it. BTW, we also had a personal waiter attending to our every need, ‘yun lang ang kuwento. Bye!

PS. Inuwi pala namin ang mga flowers. Nasa altar at banyo namin sila ngayon. Memories of Bohol! Hahaha!

Pass the squid please, Madame.
