Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin Inspired Birthday Cake

My friends and I have been surviving the pandemic thanks to ABS-CBN’s Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin. Ellice and Marissa’s rivalry have become our lockdown guilty pleasure next to Tiktok storytimes. (I am speaking for myself on the latter. My friends hate it when I send Tiktok links in our group chat.) Actually, we just want Ellice to suffer. #TeamMarissa. We live for Marissa and Ellice’s linyahan and lakihan ng mata confrontations , Gabriel and Hope’s slang Tagalog lines, and of course, Nanay Lucing’s proverbial monologues and occasional makatanggal-wisdom teeth sampal scenes. Being slapped by The Diamond Star is both an honor and a responsibility pero mukhang masshhhakit.

And did you notice that Ellice and Marissa were named after the producers. Yeah. Eagle eyes.

ASIAA’s color scheme is black and pearl white at least for Book 1. Haha. Book 2 is more into red and black but red is one of the hardest colors to get apparently. So The Cake Orchard (@the.cake.orchard on Instagram) and I had to settle with fifty shades of grey. And it turned out very well.

Before you see the final product, here’s the sketch first. HAHA!

From concept to reality. Every thing starts from something. 🙂

Pearls are a thing in the teleserye. Both women work for a company that sells pearl jewelry. I’m not sure how sustainable that is but the pearl necklace is a good touch on the cake. Saka di ba may pearl crown si Marissa sa Book 2, so I ensured na dapat merong korona ang cake! I was really surprised with the intricacy of the crown. Very Binibining Pilipinas!

I know Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin will soon be ending. I hope that it gives us a satisfying twist (read: make Ellice, Belen and Cesar suffer ahihi) #SorryNotSorry
