Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 7 “The Girl Who’s Out of Time” Recap

Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 7 premieres tonight 9 P.M. on FOX Life, and simulcast on the FOX+ app (country availability may vary). Now that we’re left with the Top 6 girls, it looks like the mentors will be a little less hands-on for their teams. And the girls will become giant women in the city for their photo shoot. Another girl will be eliminated from the running towards becoming Asia’s Next Top Model. 👏

After last week’s shocking elimination (still not over it TBH), mixed emotions in the house. Beauty is super happy at her second win and wants to put Myanmar on top. Thanh Vy feels that she deserved to go home rather than Jachin. The two remaining Thai girls Dana and Pim are the only ones left in the “Loud Girls” room. Jachin left a special message for Adela to win it for the Philippines… and also for her. 😂 “Now it’s the game on,” says Thanh Vy.

This week will be the final week that the alumni mentors will be with the girls. “You need to kick their ass,” says Tu. 😂

Challenge: Huawei P20 Lookbook

The girls need to showcase their own personal styles in a 3-photo lookbook. They are going to pick an item from the rack for each and style it based on their own personalities. The two teams are: Dana, Adela and Beauty; and Thanh Vy, Pim and Mia. The teams need to showcase different styles in 3 photos: an updated uptown look in monochrome, a casual, cool look, and a midnight look in low-light. Way to showcase the features of the Huawei P20’s camera. Get that sponsorship money, AsNTM! Yu Tsai is Huawei’s brand ambassador, teaching the girls how to use their Huawei P20 phones. 🙌

The winning team gets a challenge score of 8.7. The losing team gets 1 full point lower. These scores are so arbitrary. Cindy Mail: Mia thinks that they’re going to be dangling in the air. Well, aren’t you predicting a photo shoot in a future episode there? 😂

Photo shoot: Harper’s Bazaar Editorial “Larger Than Life”

Harper’s Thailand EIC Duang Poshyanonda is in the studio with Cindy. So we’re going to have two Thai judges on the panel again. The girls are shooting a high-fashion pin-up editorial with them posing in a miniature cityscape set. I think I’m sticking with calling this the “Godzilla” photo shoot.

Dana makes a good observation: they gave Thanh Vy, the shortest girl remaining, that humongous hat. Well of course she’s going to look even smaller. Even Adela has that huge ass hat. Such weird styling choices for all the girls.

Next week is another Subaru XV week. Wow, we’re only two weeks from the finale. So we are only getting 10 episodes this cycle. SMH.

Quick review of the cycle so far: started out strong, but it’s turning quickly to be a disappointment. The photo shoot concepts have been better than last cycle’s as a whole, but the resulting photos are super inconsistent. And what’s even more confusing is that we’re in the freaking beautiful city of Bangkok and it’s been one indoor studio photo shoot after the other. Such a waste.
