Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 Review + Amiciness Picks

Asia’s premiere modelling competition is back for Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 in Bangkok, Thailand! The girls embraced their natural beauty and showed what it takes to be a beauty brand ambassador. Read on for my Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 review and how the girls fared in their shoot this week.

Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 “The Girl Who Spoke The Truth” Recap

If you haven’t watched the episode yet, you could read the Episode 4 recap post above. Now let’s look at the Amiciness picks this week…

1. Jachin

Perfect! She definitely nailed the #WokeUpLikeThis feel that she was going for. Cara said that it was fun to see her working the set, and I felt that way too with just the snippet we see in the episode. This should’ve been FCO. The judges could’ve given her higher scores to offset the low challenge score (which Cindy mentions), but Est.Lab probably didn’t want a dark-skinned girl for their campaign. Sad.

2. Dana

I agree with Yu Tsai that the photo looked more like a hair product ad, and it definitely looks like it belongs in ex-sponsor Tresemme’s campaign. The face is gorgeous though. (This is the second time that she’s been photographed doing the look-back-over-the-shoulder pose last seen in the Subaru shoot.)

3. Thanh Vy

I’m really digging Thanh Vy’s short hair in this shot. You can almost see the gentle breeze blowing through it.

4. Pim

She’s usually fierce and edgy in her photos, but here we see it in a more subtle way, which fits the brief, I think.

5. Han

It’s been a recurring theme this cycle that the eliminated girl leaves on a high note with their best photo in the competition. And Han did just that. Unlike the Subaru shoot from two episodes ago, she actually looks happy here.

6. Adela

I agree with the judges that this should’ve been Adela’s theme to nail. But the final photo, though she still looks pretty in it, just feels awkward and stiff.

7. Beauty

Whoever did the retouching on this photo did a horrible job. Plus this angle is not so flattering on her.

8. Mia

When I see the photo, it doesn’t feel inviting. The tentative smirk, the sad eyes, the closed-off stance doesn’t really make for a good brand photo.

Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 Review

This is the weakest episode in the cycle so far. It still isn’t as bad as the past few cycles, but I just got bored. The challenge wasn’t interesting and the photo shoot concept was uninspiring, which I know is a given, since this was a brand shoot.

All of the girls without solo scenes in the opening titles have all been eliminated: Sharnie, Iko, Jesslyn, Rubini, Han. So who among the remaining seven will be eliminated next. Are we getting a double elimination soon? 🧐
