The Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 contestants have already been revealed! When? Well, it depends. The official Facebook page revealed the 14 models in a live Facebook stream just this week. But weeks even months before, a list of rumored contestants had already circulated. At least now it’s official. Here are the 14 models vying for the title of becoming Asia’s. 👏 Next. 👏 Top. 👏 Model. 👏
I’m happy to note that we have more countries represented than last cycle. 🙌 They’re living up to their #BeyondLimits slogan this cycle. Although I don’t know how long they can keep that up. Remember #ExpectTheUnexpected? 😂
Now let’s meet this cycle’s 14 girls in no particular order. 😏 If you aren’t too keen on reading long articles, I’ve prepared a video for you with all 14 girls after the cut…
Now let’s find out more about each girl (or at least what I could find about them on the internet)…
1. Hody @hodyyim 🇭🇰
#HongKongOnTOP #TeamHody
Hody Yim hails from and is representing Hong Kong for Cycle 6. But according to her social media, it looks like she’s been based in Bangkok for a while now. She’s booked a lot of editorials and magazine shoots, most notably for Elle Thailand. She’s even been in a Thai music video!
Hody is under Morgan & Preston Models in Bangkok. Here’s the music video for Thai indie rock band Cocktail:
2. Han @yihansi 🇸🇬
#SingaporeOnTOP #TeamHan
Singapore’s Yi Han Si is the youngest contestant this cycle at just 18 years old. She started modelling 3 years ago, debuting at Digital Fashion Week, and has been working as a model ever since. Oh and she’s also the tallest this cycle. Hana is under Looque Models in Singapore, same as last cycle’s Nametha R.
3. Jesslyn @jesslyn_limm 🇮🇩
#IndonesiaOnTOP #TeamJesslyn
Jesslyn is fresh out of one competition and into another for Asia’s Next Top Model. She joined, just this year, the national competition to select Indonesia’s representative for Miss Universe and Miss International, Puteri Indonesia 2018. She didn’t win the title, though she reached the Top 11 and won a special award for Miss Intelligence. Here she is repping the DKI Jakarta 4 sash (scrub through to around the 11:45 mark):
4. Thanh Vy @rimathanhvy 🇻🇳
#VietnamOnTOP #TeamThanhVy
Another girl with beauty pageant experience is Vietnam’s representative, Thanh Vy Nguyen. Rima, as she’s sometimes called, joined Miss World Vietnam 2016 where she finished in the Top 9. Here’s a video of the pageant (the full show! 😂). She’s the one in yellow with floral appliqués for the evening gown portion (around the 1 hr 6 min mark).
5. Iko @ikobustomi 🇮🇩
#IndonesiaOnTOP #TeamIko
Rizkho Maulida Bustomi is the 2nd representative of Indonesia for Cycle 6. Iko is represented by Edge Models in Jakarta, the same agency as last cycle’s Clara Tan. Here is Iko in a fashion film by Dani Huda for Visionare:
6. Jachin @jachmanere 🇵🇭
#PhilippinesOnTOP #TeamJachin
The 1st Filipina this cycle is Jachin Manere. Jach is relatively new to the fashion industry. She has been working as a professional model since she was 18 years old. She studied Music Business Management at the Meridian International College in Taguig.
Jach is represented by PMAP Models in Manila. Here is a short feature of Jach for U Do U by Afterparty:
7. Beauty @thetthetthinn 🇲🇲
#MyanmarOnTOP #TeamBeauty
Myanmar is back! Thet Thet Thinn or Beauty graduated as an English Major at the Dagon University in Yangon in her home country Myanmar. She is pursuing modelling full-time and is now currently based in Bangkok.
Beauty is represented by her mother agency JEM Model Management, and by WM Models in Bangkok. Here is a campaign video she shot for Thai fashion brand Misty Mynx. She’s joined by another of this cycle’s contestants 😉
8. Rubini @rubinirubi 🇲🇾
#MalaysiaOnTOP #TeamRubini
We have another pageant queen. Jayarubini Sambanthan represented Malaysia in the Miss International 2014 pageant in Tokyo. And in 2016, she was appointed the Malaysian representative for Sri Lanka-based pageant Miss Tourism Sri Lanka-International. (These Tourism pageants are so confusing!) Since then she’s been modelling in Malaysia and has appeared on magazines and walked the runway for brands like Zalora. Here is a short video of Rubini for makeup brand Rimmel London Malaysia:
9. Pim @pimbubear 🇹🇭
#ThailandOnTOP #TeamPim
Pim works as a model with 4 years of modelling experience under her belt. Oh and it’s not just any belt: it’s the karate black belt kind. She also does boxing and performs in Thai film and television. Here is a showreel of some of her English-speaking roles in international movies. (And yes, she was the one with Beauty in the video above.)
10. Sharnie @sharniefenn 🇯🇵
#JapanOnTOP #TeamSharnie
Japanese-Australian Sharnie is representing Japan this cycle. She’s been modelling in Australia, where she is currently based. She’s also been to Bangkok before, where she did a short modelling stint for a few months last year. The beach seems to be a favorite destination of hers, judging by her Instagram profile.
Sharnie is under Katz Model Management in Australia, Area Management in Bangkok, and Model One in Hong Kong.
11. Lena @lenasaetiao 🇹🇭
#ThailandOnTOP #TeamLena
Saranratch Lena Saetiao is the 2nd Thai rep this cycle. Like some of the other girls this cycle, she also comes from the beauty pageant world. She finished as the runner-up in Miss Grand Thailand 2015.
Here are highlights of her time in Miss Grand Thailand (warning: very low quality… and LOL at them using the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 theme song):
12. Mia @miasabathy 🇹🇼
#TaiwanOnTOP #TeamMia
Speaking of runners-up and the European continent, here we have a Top Model runner-up from Europe. Austrian-Taiwanese Mia Klara Sabathy (白彌兒) finished third in the 7th cycle of Austria’s Next Topmodel. She’s representing Taiwan for AsNTM. Aside from being a model, she’s also very passionate about her advocacy, working with PAWS in Bangkok to provide care for our beloved animal friends. She also has a vlog channel where she chronicles her travels, modelling jobs, and advocacy. Willkommen bei Asia’s Next Topmodel! (No Google Translate, I swear! 😅)
Mia is represented by (this will be a long list) Wiener Models in Vienna, Catwalk in Taipei, Model Genesis in Hong Kong, and Area Management in Bangkok. Here’s a recent TVC she shot for (Subaru rival 😅) Mazda in Bangkok:
13. Adela @adelamae 🇵🇭
#PhilippinesOnTOP #TeamAdela
We have another Top Model runner-up. This time it’s British-Filipina Adela Mae Marshall, the second Philippine representative. She finished in the runner-up position in Philippines’ Next Top Model: High Street (technically, the Philippines’ 2nd cycle).
Adela is under Prima Stella Management in Manila (same as last cycle’s winner Maureen Wroblewitz). Oh and did you also know that she’s a singer-songwriter? Watch her music video for Tagalog-English single “I’m Just Like You”:
14. Dana @dsloz 🇹🇭
#ThailandOnTOP #TeamDana
The last of the three Thai representatives this cycle is Thai-American model Dana Slosar. She’s done a lot of work as a model in Bangkok, booking editorials for Vogue Thailand multiple times. She’s under Model One in Hong Kong, and Kiss Models in her home-base Bangkok.
Here’s another look at all 14 models, in the style of America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) Cycle 23 & 24’s opening titles:
And if you want to know even more about the contestants, straight from the girls themselves, check out their official model ID videos:
I noticed that a lot of the models this cycle have a Thailand connection in some way. Most of the girls are part of Bangkok-based modelling agencies. The show seems to have gotten their cast from the model rosters of these local agencies. That, or the girls booked their Bangkok jobs because of AsNTM.
Regarding the spoilers: I still don’t get how all of these manage to leak every cycle. I’m starting to believe the production team is doing this on purpose. #conspiracy 😂
BTW, if you’re curious: in their promo photos, the girls are (all?) wearing pieces from the 2018 Spring/Summer Collection of Thai fashion brand Vatanika. It’s a lot of metallic fabrics, see-through materials, and even more fringe! (Coincidentally, Pim, Beauty, and AsNTM6 host Cindy Bishop all walked the runway for this collection. Hmm… another #conspiracy 😂)
