Taiwan Excellence is a campaign founded in 1993 by Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) with the vision of showcasing superior brand, innovation and technology of Taiwanese manufacturers to the world. The campaign has been active in the Philippines for 5 years now. To celebrate its anniversary, for the first time ever, Taiwan Excellence Day was held at the SMX Aura Convention Center last June 15 and 16.
Taiwan Excellence selects annually the most innovative products based on their excellence criteria including research and development, design, quality and international marketing. The Taiwan Excellence mark is recognized worldwide and being in this roster of excellent products is the highest honor for a Taiwanese company.
Excellent Brands
Anvey Factora, Head of Marketing of ASUS Philippines spoke about ASUS’ vision to provide innovative IT solutions that empower people and businesses to reach their full potential. ASUS believes that the best technology is technology accessible to everyone, and this is what the company aims as evidenced its products from as small as powerbanks to robots (your award-winning smart little companion, Zenbo), and to its smartest and most powerful smartphones yet, the Zenfone 5 series.
Jopson Li, President Director of Atop, an industrial communications company shared its smart transportation solutions in Indonesia. One is the timely information of neighboring parking garages. Information from electronic signages are transmitted to drivers via a mobile app. Atop also helped transform the supervision of power substation. Whenever a power substation is down, the operators receive an SMS notification about the status. Nice!
Lastly, Gigabyte showcased their 300-series chipset & Gaming Series, which includes the Z370, H370, B350 Aorus motherboards for action-packed gaming. I tried their VR gaming goggles and controllers and it was quite an experience. I was transported to space in the middle of the convention center. You gotta try it!
Excellent Finds
A variety of tech products were showcased in the expo from smart gadgets and appliances used in the kitchen, to travel and sports equipment. Different ICT products for gaming, video-conferencing and photography.
My favorite was Opro9’s SmartDiaper, a baby diaper monitor that you can connect to your smartphone. Pinoy moms and dads will save tons of diapers with this smart device.
I’ve been using their products for years but I didn’t know Transcend was from Taiwan. It’s awesome that the company tied up with government agency Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to equip traffic enforcers with body cameras. This is how you integrate technology in nation-building.
I also got giddy seeing swimming goggles from Saeko. It’s nice to know that there are goggles made for Asians because I bought one from a Western brand before and it didn’t fit my faceshape well.
Innovation doesn’t stop and I’m looking forward for new brands and products in the next Taiwan Excellence Day. What did you think about Taiwan Excellence Day? What products did you like the most?
