Amiciness is going to recap Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 Episode 3: The Girl Who Got Cut. It’s the makeover episode tonight! The girls will be under the mercy of TRESemmé hair ambassador Lourd Ramos and his team’s cutting tools and TRESemmé hair products. Who will get highlights? Bangs? The dreaded short haircut? There’s bound to be drama, and I’m super excited. Not to mention another hospital visit this episode. (Ugh.)
Last time on Asia’s Next Top Model, we continue with the heights theme… with trampolines both in their challenge and their photo shoot. A not so inconspicuous attempt to eliminate Tugs early. The producers got their wish as the girl with the phobia of heights and who frankly mentioned in confessional that the show “hates” her was sent packing. 12 girls remain… who will still be in the running towards becoming Asia’s. Next. Top. Model?
Watch with me at 9 p.m. Philippine time on Star World as I recap the episode live as it airs. 🙂
🎶 I’m never gonna stop until I reach the top 🎶
Angie feels so happy that she got vindicated from her being in the bottom two the previous week and now getting the best performance. The girls are not happy that Tugs was eliminated over Jessica who they feel does not have the same drive to do well in the competition as the rest of them. Jessica only feels comfortable with Sang In. Cliques are starting to form, I see. The girls get goodie bags filled with TRESemme products.
Cindy Mail! They get cardboard(?) cutouts of different hairstyles inside a box. It’s makeover time! Sang In has been looking forward to the makeovers. Mai Ngo will not be happy if she gets a short haircut.
Makeovers!
The girls are met at the Jean Yip Group salon by Kenneth Goh, Mervin Wee, and Lourd Ramos. The girls get to know their makeovers via brief descriptions. Aldilla is getting the most drastic makeover… and you know what that means: chop, chop, chop.
All the girls are crying because of their makeovers. But not Sang In, who is game for anything. Mai Ngo really does not like getting the short haircut. They cut to her backstory of her dad not approving of her short hair. “You’re so mean!” is her reaction to seeing her hair getting shorter and shorter. Angie is having doubts about her makeover. She’s getting shaved sides! Will she go on with her makeover? Find out after the break.
Angie is going through with the makeover.
These are the girls’ makeovers:
- Angie – shaved side
- Gwen – long bob
- Julian – bangs
- May – fringe
- Sang In – dyed blonde, cotton candy highlights
- Jessia – fringe, bob
- Mai Ngo – short bob
- Aldilla – boy cut
- Tuti – “Rihanna” hairstyle
- Tawan – pixie cut with blonde highlights
- Alaiza – wavy, trimmed
- Patricia – wavy, trimmed
Mai Ngo is very upset at her new short haircut. As soon as she faces the mirror, she bawls.
Back at the model house, the girls who got the short haircuts (Tuti, Aldilla, and Tawan) bond over their new hair.
Cindy Mail! They’ll be rocking their new hairstyles in a photoshoot.
Photo shoot – Comp card
Mervin, Lourd, model mentor Kelly Tandiono and photographer Joel Lim meet the girls in a studio. The girls are shooting comp card with 2 different looks. The twist: they’ll only have 20 minutes to get styled for their first look, their second look, and then select the photos that go in their comp cards! Only the photo shoot score counts this week, as there is no challenge.
Patricia impresses Kelly and Lourd with her versatility. Mai Ngo is having trouble with how to style her hair, and she fears that this will be her last week. Sang In is ill and may not get to do the photo shoot. Kelly sends her to the hospital to get checked.
Sang In gets back in time to do her photo shoot. And she’s sick! In a good way! Kelly even says that she’s Harper’s Bazaar material. Impressive!
Deliberation
Cindy Bishop, Kelly, Kenneth, and Lourd are this week’s judges.

The winner this week will get a special reward from Cindy, which we will find out next episode.

Mai Ngo thinks that it is unfair that she got eliminated before Gwen who has been in the bottom for the past two weeks. But she’s proud to represent Vietnam in the competition.
Next Week
FINALLY! YU TSAI IS HERE! Oh and it’s the Subaru photo shoot. Of course, Subaru head honcho Glenn Tan is back at the judging panel. And he’s reaaaaallly angry at someone, or probably all of them. He’s shouting but it’s unclear who he’s shouting at, as we get a montage of girls crying. Even Cindy seems to be taken aback by his reaction. Intense episode next week, guys. Who will be confident in motion amidst all of this verbal abuse? Oh, and again… YU TSAI!!!
