Amiciness is back to regular programming, live-blogging the 8th episode of Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3. Just a few more episodes to this cycle’s finale. This week, the girls are challenged to bring out their inner stylists and recreate the latest TRESemmé hair trends.

Last time on Asia’s Next Top Model, tensions rose as the rivalry between Gani and Monika intensified. The girls faced their toughest challenge yet as they don nothing but body paint in an ad campaign for Subaru XV. Monika and Barbara won the shoot as Subaru’s two new brand ambassadors. Who will rise and fall this week? Cue “Chandelier” opening.
The girls miss Melissa, especially KB. Gani says she won’t miss Monika or Aimee if they go home next. Cliques start to form: Gani, Tahlia and Barbara form one clique; Monika, Amanda and Aimee form another. KB’s in the middle of both. Aimee is angry that Melissa went home and Tahlia got to stay. Tahlia felt a lump in her breast, which prompts her to get checked at the hospital. Her grandmother and mother died from breast cancer, which makes her scared for her own health.
Challenge: TRESemme Hair Trends
The girls arrive at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa. Giovanni Wihayak, TRESemmé’s Expert Stylist is waiting with Georgina for the girls. The girls need to recreate 7 hair trends in just 30 minutes, and Giovanni is on hand to check if they’ve been following the TRESemmé hair advice. The model that wins the challenge gets immunity from elimination this week. Amanda really wants it.

Georgina visits the model house to talk about Tahlia’s health concerns. Tahlia dedicates her model journey to her mom who passed away just last year to breast cancer.
Photoshoot: Girl on a Mission
The girls at Fullerton Bay Hotel, and this week’s shoot’s location is everywhere around the city of Singapore. The incredibly talented Aussie photographer Jez Smith is handling this week’s shoot alongside Alex Perry. “Non-modelling modelling.” Indonesian celebrity Andien Aisyah gave confidence advice to the girls while they were at hair and makeup.
Tahlia seems to be nailing the shoot. Jez liked shooting her because he felt that she wanted it. Gani looked emotionless in her first few frames, then immediately turned it around to take good photos. Oh ok, so Andien was only there for the Indonesian girls’ shoots? #IndonesiaOnTop indeed. Amanda entered the shoot seemingly blanked out, which the mentors sensed. Her photo shoot is in danger of getting cut short because of the weather.
Monika was too posey, but they seem to have got a good photo in the end. Aimee did great and embodied the theme. Rajo Laurel (Filipino designer) shout out from Aimee! KB had difficulty with the camera angle in the beginning, but got it by the end. The mentors gushed at Barbara’s performance. They got the shot in just a couple of frames.
Great reviews for Tahlia, Gani, and Barbara. Not so good for KB. Georgina even said that the photo looked like it belong to an advertisement in a mall. Yikes! Seems to be Barbara getting the FCO this week. The girl with the best photo will headline the TRESemmé runway show.

Was honestly expecting BARBARA to get FCO!
Me too! Based on Jez and Alex’s gushing during the shoot, I was expecting a Barbara FCO. Though Tahlia’s photo looked great also.
I knew it’s going to be between Kirsteen and Amanda tonight. Although it is a bit reasonable because Amanda generally ranks higher than KB, and she’s the “hit or miss” type. Although I am almost certain that she’ll be the next to go unless someone from the remaining girls mess up big time. As of now, it is a tough battle between Gani, Monika, and Aimee for the final three. If Barbara will continue with this kind of performance next week, then she might replace Aimee in the final three.
Unlike other series where you have a definite standout, this season is the first season where I can’t put a finger on who might win. If the contestants left will be Gani, Monika, Aimee, and Barbara, then it will be such a pain to deliberate. C1 is indeed Jessica’s cycle, while C2 should really be Jodilly’s cycle. This one, I’m still not sure.
Not having a definite standout makes for an exciting season! 😀 In C1, when Jessica got FCO AND won the challenge everytime, you already knew there was no way she wasn’t going to be the winner.

You know Amanda is great. I’m not a hater because I am a Filipino. But I think she would’ve be going home if Amanda fail to impress the judges next episode 🙁
