Ahead of the main show, these Grammy Award winners were announced:
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: “Say Something” — A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera

AC/DC opens the show with a medley of their classic rock hits, including Highway To Hell.
We go straight ahead to the very first award of the night, Best New Artist, with Taylor Swift presenting. Taylor says that some of the nominees are her BFFs LOL. The nominees are Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Brandy Clark, Haim, and Sam Smith. And the Grammy goes to… Sam Smith. “Mum and dad, I won a Grammy!”

Star of the movie musical Into the Woods and the upcoming Pitch Perfect sequel Anna Kendrick introduces the next performance: Ariana Grande with “Just a Little Bit of your Heart.”
Jessie J and Sir Tom Jones present the next award, but not before singing a bit of “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin'” in honor of the Grammy Trustees. The nominees for Best Pop Solo Performance are “All of Me (Live)” – John Legend, “Chandelier” – Sia, “Stay with Me (Darkchild version)” – Sam Smith, “Shake It Off” – Taylor Swift, “Happy (Live)” – Pharrell Williams. And the Grammy goes to: “Happy (Live)” – Pharrell Williams. Pharrell looks shocked, and, in his own words, “super awkward.”

Country superstar Miranda Lambert performs “Little Red Wagon.” Country means it’s time for a break.
Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees, who received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement award, and Grammy award winner Pentatonix present the nominees for Best Pop Vocal Album: Ghost Stories (Coldplay), Bangerz (Miley Cyrus), My Everything (Ariana Grande), Prism (Katy Perry), × (Ed Sheeran), In the Lonely Hour (Sam Smith). And the Grammy goes to… In the Lonely Hour (Sam Smith). This is Sam Smith’s second win tonight. Awww bb Ed.

I believe the Grammys is going overtime.
An In Memoriam montage paying tribute to the musicians who died the past year, including Joe Cocker, Bobby Womack, and Robin Williams. And Maya Angelou. Joan Rivers is not in this montage, even though she won an award for spoken album.
Beyonce performs. Queen Bey is bringing gospel. John Legend and Common perform “Glory.”
And weirdly, we get a recap of the “Stay With Me” performance earlier. Aaaaand that closes the show!
