So we skipped Episode 11 and instead we got a 3-minute summary of what happened in the deleted episode. Oh and finally we some runway walking. Despite having a Movement Coach, this season did not have a lot of runway challenges, except way back in the first episode.
Here’s a quick recap of the Episode 11 summary and this week’s Episode 12:
Episode 11: “The Girl on Life’s Journey”
This is the Malaysian Airlines-sponsored episode, which was understandably not aired in full. The girls met Season 1 winner Jessica and she showed the girls her runway walk. The girls then packed their bags to fly to Hong Kong… in style, wearing Gucci. In Hong Kong, they got to meet Helena also from last season. Mariana Renata, Tresemme ambassador, talked to the girls regarding hair care and maintenance. We see the girls had their photoshoot inside a hangar, but that’s all that we can gather from the edited clip.
First call out: Sheena
Safe: Jodilly and Marie
Bottom 2: Katarina and Nicole
Eliminated: Nicole
We didn’t get to see the photos and the judging, so we can’t know for sure what caused this elimination.
Episode 12: “The Girl Who’s Epic”
The girls received their Nadya mail and had a well-deserved break from the competition for some souvenir shopping and sightseeing in the historical town of Melaka. Then they rode these cute tuk-tuks to the Majestic Hotel for some tea time.
Challenge: Go-See with Harper’s Bazaar EIC
When they got back to the Ritz-Carlton, Adam visited the girls to announce that they were going to have a go-see with Natasha Krall, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Malaysia.
Katrina is surprised that Natasha liked her portfolio a lot, contrary to the judges’ commentary. Natasha notes that Katarina needed to improve her walk and make her poses less girly and more womanly.
Jodilly was excited to wear Fendi. She wanted to show her personality and impress, but Natasha noted that she was doing cliche poses.
Sheena showed her portfolio, and picked the Futuristic Sports photo as her favorite. She was disappointed with her go-see as she felt that she was not as extroverted as she normally was.
Marie was very nervous that she forgot designer names. Natasha says that she was very hungry to compete, down-to-earth, and that she had a great walk and exotic look.
Winner: Sheena
She won a 1000 USD shopping spree at MAC Cosmetics.
Joey Mead-King brought the girls into a hotel room and had them talk via Google Hangout with Ashley Roberts, Pussycat Dolls member. The girls asked her about handling nerves and balancing work and life in the industry.
Nice segue with Marie’s soundbite saying “I love it” and the next scene Icona Pop’s “I Love It” plays in the girls’ hotel. Of course, the girls started dancing, when suddenly Icona Pop appeared on their TV… to dictate their new Nadya Mail. LOL.
Photoshoot:
The girls posed for a sexy, high-fashion editorial for Harper’s Bazaar. Romero Jennings from MAC Cosmetics does the girls’ hair and makeup. Harper’s Bazaar Singapore creative director Kenneth Goh supervised the photoshoot. Aaron Lee photographed. This is the first time that the girls got unlimited frames AND unlimited time for the shoot in an old Chinese stadium.
This is how the girls fared, starting with first call-out:
1. First call-out: Katarina
Her second ever FCO. She’s continuing the classic Hollywood bombshell look and it was perfect for this shoot. The judges noted that she needed a lot of direction in the photoshoot.
2. Jodilly
I like this mix of innocent and sexy in the picture. That lean back on the wall makes this picture. The judges liked that she could go from cute and girly to passionate and womanly in the photoshoot.
3. Sheena
I neither love nor hate this picture. I like the pose except for the left arm. I’ve seen that facial expression from Sheena in her previous pictures, though it does fit the picture overall. The judges said that she took direction well but she gave the same facial expressions.
Eliminated: Marie
Not a bad picture at all. It’s good that they got her to change from that other (hideous) outfit because it did not fit her well at all. Her side profile is beautiful. I agreed with the panel that from the neck up is great. The judges said that she needed to learn the nuances of modeling and posing.
A bit disappointed that Marie got eliminated as I pegged her to be part of the Final 3.
So.. Final 3: Jodilly from the Philippines, Katarina from the Philippines, and Sheena from Malaysia
Next Week is the Finale. Who among Jodilly, Katarina, and Sheena is your Asia’s Next Top Model?
