The episode was tagged as the “most challenging” episode of the show. On the contrary, the episode did not deliver as promised. It was boring and predictable. I’d just hope the next episode would be better.
Anyway, here were some of the highlights of Episode 3.
WARNING: SPOILERS AFTER THE JUMP
1. Tia and Janice are BFFs. – Apparently Tia and Janice were allies. I was a bit confused since Janice was the one that told Katarina that Tia had a problem with her, which started last week’s cat fight.
Also, apparently, Tia thought Katarina was her friend until her outburst. Crazy young girls. Tsk. Tsk.
2. Tia and Herself – The girls complained of how much Tia talked about herself. Tia knew this and she did not care at all. Fine, Tia. KTnxBye.
4. Nicole’s Pool Party- Since Nicole won best photo last week, she and four other girls (Jodilly, Poojaa, Sheena and Janice) had the privilege to have a swim in the penthouse swimming pool where Jackie Chan and Michelle Yao once swam. They enjoyed a buffet, which Sheena would regret later.
5. 10 Second Commercial for Visit Malaysia Campaign- The girls battled with their fear of heights as they had to strut their stuff 1,381 feet above ground on top of Asia’s tallest communication tower, KL Tower. Surprisingly, most of the girls did well.
Runners Up (according to Joey and Adam) – Nicole, Thao and Tia
Winner- Josephine
I’m still quite confused why the challenge results are not being considered in the judging. The shots were not shown to the judges.
I did not like the commercial. Josephine did great. She was brave and confident but the editing looked forced and not at par with the campaigns Malaysia had been releasing in the past.
6. Photo shoot at Snow Walk, i-City – In tonight’s episode, the girls were set to have a lingerie shoot at Snow Walk with a freezing temperature of -5 degrees celsius. Joey and MIke supervised the shoot led by Hong Kong based photographer, Jesper Mcilroy.
The girls were smitten by Jesper who was a former model and was described by the girls as Orlando Bloom-ish. Do you agree?
- Jesper Mcilroy, the Photographer- This was how I want a photographer to do a photo shoot. He was engaging and he made each girl comfortable. Most importantly, his commentaries were constructive and helpful in judging the girls’ fate in the competition.
- The Challenge- It seemed that the challenge was overly-hyped to the point that it was disappointing to see the girls nailing the challenge. The challenges should be used to explore the girls’ dynamics in modeling and should be considered in the judging.
- The Editing- The editors tried something new. They flashed images of the shots in between scenes from the shoot. Also, it should be said that the editing suggested Jihye’s elimination halfway of the episode, making the results predictable (like last week’s episode).
- Boring Episode-Nothing really exciting happened in this episode. I hope the show would guest more celebrities or experts from the fashion world. I would like to hear other people’s opinions about the girls’ potential to succeed in modeling.
- Makeovers!!!
- Family and friends visit the models.
